Job Description:
We are currently seeking enthusiastic and empathetic individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). As a DSP, you will directly support individuals with diverse abilities in their day-to-day activities, promote skill development, and create opportunities for community engagement. Your dedication and commitment will help individuals achieve their personal goals, build lasting connections, and experience the joys of independent living.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. Assist individuals in daily activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration, while promoting independence and self-reliance. Create and implement individualized support plans tailored to each person's unique needs and goals. Encourage skill development and participation in recreational and social activities to enhance community integration. Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes dignity, respect, and person-centered care. Document and maintain accurate records of the care provided, progress, and any incidents, following established protocols and guidelines. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including supervisors, families, and healthcare professionals, to ensure holistic care and support for individuals.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Additional relevant certifications or education in the field of human services, psychology, or related disciplines are a plus. Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is advantageous but not mandatory. We provide comprehensive training for all new team members. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to empathize, actively listen, and communicate effectively with individuals, colleagues, and families. A positive and patient attitude, coupled with a passion for supporting and empowering others. Ability to adapt to dynamic situations, think creatively, and problem-solve effectively. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate documentation and records. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is preferred
  • Knowledge of basic personal care tasks and activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
