Patient Care Assistant (PCA) Sat/Sun, 8-8 alternating day/night, private duty

Experience:

history of assisting geriatric patients or others with limited self-care ability. Responsibilities

• Assist with all activities of daily living, including but not limited to assistance with shower or sink bath, post bowel movement hygiene, meal preparation and clean up, applying lotions before bedtime, nail care, assistance with shaving if needed, cleaning glasses, helping with hearing aids, and any other personal hygiene needs.
• Monitor for changes in health status, including recording daily weight, blood pressure, ankle swelling, and memory status.
• Provide all care with compassion and safety awareness. If his gait is unsteady, walk behind him.
• Be safety conscious at all times. Watch for potential obstacles, wipe up spills, and apply safety brakes on equipment. Maintain a comfortable walking speed that coincides with that day's health status. Keep a cane close by for support. Stay close and intervene when exercising if he becomes light-headed or off balance.
• Communicate respectfully with all family and staff, sharing important information promptly and interacting with all pleasantly. Respect privacy and confidentiality.
• Use preventive measures to reduce the risks of infection, such as not reporting to work when ill or when family members are sick. Wear a mask if you have potentially been exposed to something contagious. Do not use heavy fragrances, scents, or smoke in the house.
• Keeps fingernail length no more than ¼ inch long, required. Nails must be removed prior to starting work.
• Simple meal preparation and cleaning the kitchen afterward are required, as well as light housekeeping related to care (washing his meal dishes, sweeping floors after meals, emptying trash, cleaning up spills, loading washing machine/dryer, and putting away clothes, etc.).
• Provide transportation to medical appointments, run his errands, or shop for supplies.
• Engage in conversation, watch television, take him on walks, etc.

Mr. Hale's preference for entertainment and activities takes priority.
