Direct Support Professional

We're hiring a part-time Direct Support Professional to provide direct support to individuals with severe mental and physical disabilities, helping develop and implement individualized service plans (ISPs) to enhance community integration and maximize optimal levels of functioning. Works with small groups or 1-to-1 in a positive living environment or conducts center-based activities and community outings. Applicants must have the ability to work Friday, 12:00 PM
  • 11:00 PM, Saturday, and Sunday, 4:00 PM
  • 10:00 PM
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities represent the essential functions of this job that an individual must be able to perform with or without a reasonable accommodation: Implements ISPs by providing direct care, training, and support to individuals, in a caring and dignified manner; such activities may include assisting with personal care, dressing, and/or feeding, teaching life skills such as safety awareness or community living and socialization through group activities and community outings, practicing gross and fine motor skills, or medication administration Maintains a safe and sanitary environment for individuals and staff, including using positive behavioral support techniques to intervene and redirect problem behaviors and following reporting requirements, purchasing and preparing healthy and appealing foods (when available according to ISPs), recording food consumption, and general maintenance of residence, building, or program vehicle(s) Completes documentation promptly and in compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements, to include case notes, participation activities, community outings, self-administration of medication, and charting-related data Collaborates with other service providers and family or guardians, as necessary, and reports all supportive activities related to individual services, including medical, dental, financial, transportation, and daily activities Assists with chart reviews and provides training in documentation requirements for other Direct Support Professionals Attends all required meetings and required training Other duties as assigned Operates and helps maintain a multi-person van

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE
The following qualifications represent the training, education, certifications, licensures, and/or work experience required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities successfully: High school diploma or GED with experience working with individuals with disabilities General understanding of intellectual disabilities, mental disabilities, and physical or sensory disabilities Ability to work as a member of a team and maintain a productive and positive work environment Capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with families, referral sources, and members of the community Basic knowledge of professional ethics, confidentiality, life skills training techniques, and regulatory requirements for program services Effective oral and written communication skills Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks and quickly adapt to changes in job routines Effective use of technology and information systems, including, but not limited to, Microsoft 365 PHYSICAL
DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Physical demands: Performing the duties of this job requires near visual acuity, the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds, and gross manipulation. Additionally, the employee: Must be free of tuberculosis in a communicable form Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Must be able to stand for prolonged periods Must be able to provide direct support services for individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities, which may involve crouching, stooping, or reaching /below shoulder level and overhead Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be in an office or indoor setting, or externally in community settings. Indoor environmental conditions will vary according to the weather conditions prevalent at the time, and exposure to inclement weather and extreme temperature variations can be expected when in community settings. The noise level in the work environment will vary.
