Norfolk, VA Job Details Full-time From $16 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications CPR Certification Medication administration Assisting with ADLs First Aid Certification Bathing assistance Full Job Description Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide on-call / PRN care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in assisted living settings. This flexible position allows you to work as-needed across various shifts—day, evening, or overnight—helping ensure residents' safety, comfort, and well-being. The ideal candidate has experience in long-term care, home and community care, or similar environments, with a strong focus on person-centered support. Responsibilities Provide supervision and assistance to residents or clients in a safe and respectful manner across assigned shifts Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support Administer medications following prescribed protocols and document accordingly using EMR systems Monitor vital signs and observe for any health changes or concerns Support residents with dementia or memory care needs using specialized behavioral management techniques Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely to assist with transfers and mobility Prepare meals and snacks according to dietary guidelines and individual preferences Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks as needed Respond promptly to emergencies using first aid skills when necessary Document all interactions, observations, and interventions accurately in compliance with regulations Engage residents in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being Qualifications Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care preferred Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities-related behavioral management Certification or training in first aid and CPR highly desirable Ability to work independently and adapt to various shift times while maintaining vigilance for safety concerns Strong communication skills and compassionate attitude towards residents of all ages and backgrounds Valid driver's license preferred for transportation needs if applicable Ability to pass background checks and meet health screening requirements Why Join Us If you are committed to providing quality care in a respectful environment and value flexible, as-needed work, this PRN role is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.Job Type:
