Job Description

About the Role In this weekend role, you will provide consistent, relationship-centered support to four individuals who are stable, calm, and thrive within a structured daily routine. This is a great opportunity for someone who values steady, meaningful work, enjoys being part of a small household environment, and wants predictable weekend hours without the unpredictability of on-call or weekday scheduling. Key Responsibilities Support individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and household chores according to each person's Individual Support Plan (ISP) Implement goals and objectives outlined in each resident's ISP in collaboration with the support team Administer medications and complete medication administration records (MARs) accurately and on time, in compliance with DBHDS regulations Prepare or assist with preparing nutritious meals and snacks consistent with individual dietary needs and preferences Facilitate weekend activities, community outings, and recreational engagement based on individual interests Maintain accurate and timely documentation including daily progress notes, incident reports, and communication logs Ensure the home environment is clean, safe, and welcoming at all times Respond appropriately to behavioral or health-related incidents; follow emergency protocols and notify supervisors as required Communicate respectfully and professionally with individuals, families, and team members Participate in required trainings, team meetings, and supervision as scheduled Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required At least 6 months of experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred Valid Virginia driver's license and reliable personal vehicle Ability to pass a criminal background check and driving record check Ability to obtain or current certification in First Aid, CPR, and DBHDS-required Medication Administration (MAPS) training Completion of DBHDS-required Developmental Disabilities Direct Support Professional (DD DSP) training or willingness to complete within required timeframes Basic computer literacy for documentation purposes Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in residential setting Familiarity with person-centered planning and ISP implementation Experience with positive behavioral support strategies What We Offer Consistent, predictable weekend schedule Supportive, low-acuity environment with stable residents and established routines Paid orientation and required DBHDS training Opportunities to grow within the organization as GHSI expands services A mission-driven team that genuinely cares about quality of life for the individuals we serve Physical Requirements This role requires the ability to stand, walk, and remain active throughout the shift. DSPs may occasionally assist with transfers or mobility support and should be able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
Pay:
$18.00 - $19.00 per hour
