Suffolk & Franklin, VA Join Our Mission:
Supporting Independence at Home Charity Care Home Health is seeking compassionate Personal Care Aides / Home Health Aides to provide hands-on support to clients in the Suffolk and Franklin, Virginia areas. This role is essential in helping seniors and individuals with disabilities remain safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes.
Role Overview:
Personal, Hands-On Support As a Personal Care Aide / Home Health Aide, you will provide one-on-one assistance with daily activities, basic health-related tasks (as allowed by Virginia regulations and agency policy), and emotional support. You will be a key member of the home care team, observing changes in condition and communicating with your supervising nurse and office staff. Key Responsibilities Personal Care & Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and hygiene. Help with mobility, transfers, positioning, and safe ambulation. Support with meal preparation, feeding (if needed), and encouraging fluid intake as directed. Home Support & Safety Perform light housekeeping related to the client's care (e.g., linens, dishes, tidying the client's area). Maintain a safe environment, watching for fall risks or hazards in the home. Follow infection control practices and agency safety protocols. Companionship & Observation Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support. Observe and report changes in the client's condition, mood, appetite, or home situation to the supervising nurse or office immediately. Documentation & Communication Complete visit notes accurately and on time using agency forms or electronic systems. Follow the care plan developed by the RN and agency, and communicate any concerns promptly.
Candidate Profile:
Dependable and Compassionate Charity Care Home Health is looking for aides who are professional, reliable, and truly caring: Qualifications Current Personal Care Aide, Home Health Aide, or Nurse Aide training that meets Virginia requirements (or willingness to complete approved PCA training if applicable). Current CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within a set timeframe). Experience Previous experience in home care, facility care, or caregiving preferred, but motivated new caregivers with proper training will be considered. Comfortable assisting with personal care and working with clients who may have chronic illnesses, mobility challenges, or cognitive changes. Professional Attributes Compassionate, patient, and respectful in all interactions. Reliable, punctual, and able to follow a care plan and instructions from supervising nurses. Strong communication skills and comfort working independently in clients' homes. Availability & Location Reliable transportation to travel to client homes in Suffolk and Franklin, VA and surrounding areas. Availability for part-time or full-time hours; some evening or weekend shifts may be needed based on client needs.
