DSP (Direct Support Professional)

Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. This role is essential in providing support and assistance to individuals with disabilities or special needs in a variety of settings, including assisted living facilities and nursing homes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to care, ensuring the well-being and dignity of those they support while promoting independence and enhancing their quality of life. Duties Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities, assisting with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management. Monitor patients' health and well-being through regular observation, reporting any changes or concerns to appropriate personnel. Assist with meal preparation and cooking nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs. Help clients engage in social activities, fostering community involvement and personal growth. Lift and transfer individuals safely as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and privacy. Document care provided and maintain accurate records of patient observations and interactions. Qualifications Previous experience in direct support roles, such as working in assisted living or nursing home environments, is preferred. Strong understanding of patient monitoring techniques and the ability to observe changes in behavior or health status. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, families, and team members. A caring attitude with a passion for helping others achieve their personal goals. Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team. Must be able to lift individuals safely and assist them with mobility as required. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations is a plus.
