Specialized Community Care is a specialized service agency dedicated to providing services for developmentally and intellectually disabled individuals while also offering the opportunity to build healthy and independent lives with services modeled after those provided to non-disabled people. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position involves providing assistance and support in daily living activities, fostering independence, and promoting social engagement. The DSP works closely with clients to ensure their physical, emotional, and social well-being while maintaining a safe and supportive environment. Duties Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management. Monitor and document client behavior, health status, and progress towards goals. Provide patient observation to ensure safety and well-being of individuals in care. Facilitate social interactions and community involvement for clients to enhance their social skills. Implement individualized support plans tailored to each client's needs. Assist with transportation to appointments or community activities as needed. Maintain a clean and organized living environment for clients, including cooking nutritious meals when required. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other support staff to coordinate care effectively. Qualifications Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients are crucial. Patience, empathy, and a compassionate approach to caregiving are necessary traits for success in this role. Ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet client requirements.
