Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. In this vital role, you will foster independence, promote well-being, and enhance quality of life through personalized assistance and attentive caregiving. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident's personal assistance devices. Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare team members. Support medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA privacy regulations to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards are maintained. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks in residents' rooms, common areas, and activity spaces. Implement personalized care plans designed by healthcare professionals to meet each individual's unique needs. Provide companionship and emotional support to promote social engagement and reduce feelings of isolation or dementia-related confusion. Document care activities thoroughly in compliance with HIPAA guidelines and organizational policies. Assist with transportation to medical appointments or community outings as needed. Support residents during emergencies or health incidents by following first aid protocols, CPR procedures, or calling emergency services when necessary. Experience Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer's care), memory care strategies, and hospice or palliative care practices. Experience with working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is preferred. Familiarity with medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and basic nursing skills such as patient care and heavy lifting is beneficial. Proven ability to follow detailed care plans while maintaining flexibility to adapt to changing needs. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times. Strong communication skills for collaborating effectively with team members, clients, families, and healthcare professionals. Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting residents safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident's personal assistive devices.
