Urgent Hiring - Medical Lab Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist Birmingham, AL (On‑site | Hospital Lab) Contract‑to‑Hire opportunity with a leading lab organization
Job Overview:
We are hiring an experienced Medical Lab Technologist / MLS to support a busy hospital core lab in Birmingham, AL. This role requires strong core lab generalist experience with blood bank and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
What You'll Do:
Perform core lab testing (hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry) Support blood bank (type & screen, crossmatch, transfusion support) Verify and report accurate patient test results Perform quality control and basic instrument troubleshooting Work with Cerner or Epic lab systems Follow hospital safety and compliance standards Must‑
Have Requirements:
ASCP‑certified MLT or MLS (required) Bachelor's or Associate degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science, Biology, or Chemistry 5+ years of clinical laboratory experience At least 1 year of blood bank experience Prior hospital or core lab experience Comfortable working independently Must be local or able to commute to
