JUNIOR/SENIOR

researcher who has some research experience. The position will be responsible for performing upkeep and maintenance of the Sato mouse colony, genotyping, and managing the colony. Development into independent projects will be dependent on successful satisfaction of the abovementioned job duties. In addition, the position will involve organizing lab protocols, assisting with regulatory inspections, assisting with lab ordering, and training new laboratory personnel. The position is dependent on positive annual assessment by the principal investigator and availability of extramural funding.

Essential functions include:

Animal care and preparation, monitoring, and evaluation. Preparation of experimental materials. Aiding in in vivo mouse work (cardiac functional and biochemical analysis). Assistance with histology, molecular methods, surgical implantation of catheters in mice. Assistance in laboratory management. Supervision and help of other lab trainees. Participate in lab meetings and scientific discussions. Regulatory inspections (IACUC, biosafety, etc) General Responsibilities Under minimal supervision: To set up and perform routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals. To collect, enter and summarize data. To monitor results and report unusual outcomes. Key Duties & Responsibilities Manages animal care, preparation for procedures, monitor and evaluation. Aides in in vivo mouse work (cardiac functional and biochemical analysis). Assists with histology, molecular methods, surgical implantation of catheters in mice. Prepares experimental materials. Participates in lab meetings and discussions. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience Preferences Experience in animal research, molecular biology, and/or cardiac physiology. Must be interested in expanding skills, learning new techniques, and improving processes. Key Skills Strong desire to learn and be self-motivated. Strong organizational skills and stellar work ethic.
