The successful candidate:
Shift:
4 10s: 5: 30am-4:00pm Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri•The Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for accurately performing a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests and reporting results within the expected turnaround time to assist healthcare providers deliver the most optimal patient outcomes. Performs, as assigned, all required equipment maintenance, calibration and quality control testing per departmental procedures. Must be available to sign-up for on-call shifts and provide coverage for other shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Performs a variety of tasks including specimen transport, specimen processing for in-house and send-out testing for reference laboratories, answering telephone calls, reviewing pending logs, etc.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
Associate's Degree in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences or related field from an accredited college or university or successful completion of a U.S. military Medical Laboratory training program.
Certification:
Certification required (ASCP or AMT) or eligible to take exam. Must successfully complete certification (ASCP or AMT) within 18 months of hire.
Special Skills:
Professional demeanor, effective collaboration and communication skills ensuring teamwork with co-workers, nursing staff and physicians. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Above average problem solving and critical thinking skills. City of Hope is an equal opportunity employer.
