  • Purpose Statement/Position Summary:
  • The Clinical Lab Technician III, under direct supervision of unlicensed or licensed CLS, MLT, or section manager, functions as an unlicensed or licensed staff member in a licensed clinical laboratory performing duties approved by California business code 1269, CLIA, and other regulatory agencies.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to, patient preparation, specimen preparation, client service activities, preparation and management of reagents and supplies, and performing procedures and QC functions approved by regulatory agencies. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental issues of the patient population(s) being served. May be asked to take direction from a Lead or Specialist level position. We are looking for highly flexible, enthusiastic and proactive individuals with the ability to travel to all CHLA locations (main hospital and offsite locations) inArcadia, Encino, Valencia, South Bay, and Santa Monicaarea.
  • Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:
  • Required:
  • + 3+ years of experience in a large laboratory or academic institution. + 3+ years of experience in technical phlebotomy. + Experience in medical terminology sufficient to understand and discuss technical aspects of pathology and laboratory medicine. + Availability to work various days/shifts and occasional weekends.
  • Preferred:
  • + Processing experience preferred.
  • Education/Licensure/Certification:
  • Required:
  • + High school graduate or equivalent required + Valid California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Certificate verifiable by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) when duties include phlebotomy.
  • Preferred:
  • + AA/BS degree preferred.
  • Pay Scale Information
  • $55,702.40-$74,256.00

Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates who meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates who exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
