Job Description

Job Description What will I be doing in this role? The Medical Laboratory Assistant functions with the general supervision of senior technical/clinical personnel. Responsibilities may include receiving, processing, and distributing laboratory specimens or blood and communicating information about tests and test results. The MLA activities include operational and support functions and assisting in the orientation and training of new employees. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental issues of the patient populations(s) being served.
Qualifications Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent. One year of clinical laboratory experience, including familiarity with laboratory information systems, preferred. Appropriate interpersonal skills for interacting with peers, patients, physicians, and other customers of the Medical Center. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
Physical Demand:
Frequent sitting and standing; occasional walking and bending; occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds for distances to 10 feet. Responsiveness to auditory alarms and communication devices including telephones, beepers, fire alarms, mechanical failure alarms. Visual acuity acceptable for performing duties of this position. Sufficient mobility to access equipment, patients, and other customers.
