The Duckhorn Portfolio Napa, CA Job Description:
The Duckhorn Portfolio is North America's premier luxury wine company. We were established in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn. Today, our portfolio features some of North America's most revered wineries, including Decoy, Paraduxx, Goldeneye, Migration, Canvasback, Calera, Kosta Browne, Greenwing and Postmark. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Laboratory Technician II. The Laboratory Technician II is responsible for fermentation monitoring, tank and barrel sampling, microbiology, and wine analysis. Provides repeatable, accurate sampling and analyses, and actively contributes to a team environment with open lines of communication. What we will ask you to do: Monitor fermentation: daily analysis and data entry of Brix and temperature using a DMA and TankNet controllers; daily sensory evaluation of fermentations. Monitor grape and wine analysis (Brix, TA, pH, FSO2, alcohol, enzymatics, etc., including use and optimization of high-throughput systems. Take samples from tank and barrels. Prepare trials, including heat and cold stability trials, and blends upon request. Assist with verification of microbiological load including flora or barrel lots. Support daily bottling with timely analysis and some routine work order writing. Track and input data using Microsoft NAV & Innovint database.
What you will need:
Degree or degree in progress in viticulture, enology, or related field. Prior basic lab skills, analytical and math skills required. Good communication skills - written and verbal. Detail oriented: ability to recognize numbers outside of tolerance, raise red flags, and ask questions. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be a team player. Ability to work independently with each laboratory instrument with limited supervision.
