GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. This full time position supports the missions and operations of Scouting America, Orange County Council at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center. The Challenge Course Specialist is primarily responsible for supporting the operation, training, and safety of the challenge course programs at the IROEC's "Adventure Hill." This includes operating and providing facility and equipment support for IROEC's zipline, climbing tower, high ropes course, and low ropes course.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum age requirement is 18 Maintain certification in Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED within three (3) months of hiring Hold or be able to attain and utilize a certification relevant to challenge course operation, such as ACCT Level 1 or
BSA COPE
Level 1 JOB DUTIES Responsible for assisting the Challenge Course Area Director in course operation, staff trainings, equipment inventory and maintenance, and facility upkeep Demonstrate proficient knowledge and implementation of mandated safety standards and regulations in accordance with ACCT, Scouting America National Camp Accreditation Program (NCAP), American Camp Association (ACA), and best industry practices. Must be able to maintain physical abilities to uphold certifications and act quickly in emergencies. Deliver high quality programming, personify professionalism, and exhibit excellent customer service to all staff and guests of the IROEC. Assist in overall administration and facilitation of programs as needed. Complete regular inspections and maintenance of program equipment and facilities. Delivery of timely and professional feedback about inventory, personnel and program. Perform other duties as assigned. Support the overall operations of Scouting America, Orange County Council.
