Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented, full-time, on-site Test Lab Technician (Lab Assistant / Junior Technician) for our Richmond, CA facility. The technician will support specialized product testing that measures VOC and formaldehyde emissions from building materials, furniture, and biomedical devices. The technician will handle routine sample preparation, operate environmental testing chambers, collect air samples, assist with equipment maintenance, and perform accurate data entry in support of standardized VOC emissions testing.
Duties Testing & Data Collection:
Conduct environmental chamber tests using data acquisition systems, mass flow controllers, and temperature/humidity sensors.
Sample Preparation:
Receive customer samples and safely prepare test specimens using hand tools and small power tools.
Air Sampling:
Collect air samples from chambers on precise time schedules.
Quality Assurance:
Follow strict standard operating procedures (SOPs), standard testing methods, and quality management system guidelines.
Recordkeeping:
Keep highly accurate, detailed written and electronic data records of laboratory activities.
Lab Support:
Support general laboratory organization, chemical safety protocols, housekeeping, routine equipment maintenance, and calibration.
Requirements Education/Experience:
Associate's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, Engineering, or a related STEM discipline; or equivalent technical laboratory experience.
Technical Literacy:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data entry, basic calculations, and recordkeeping.
Mechanical Aptitude:
Demonstrated hands-on comfort with mechanical tools and computerized equipment. Attention to
Detail:
Proven ability to concentrate, follow complex written instructions perfectly, and maintain accurate records.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds and push or pull up to 50 pounds.
Work Logistics:
Ability to work reliably on-site at our Richmond, CA facility.
Authorization:
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field. One or more years of technical work experience in a laboratory, testing, or manufacturing environment. Prior experience with environmental chambers, sensors, flow controllers, air sampling, or data acquisition systems. Experience working under rigorous quality management systems such as
ISO/IEC 17025.
