This role is ideal for someone with practical lab experience who enjoys working closely with engineers in a fast-paced, advanced engineering environment. You will play a key role in generating high-quality materials data, supporting investigations, and ensuring lab activities run efficiently and safely. Key Responsibilities Prepare specimens for testing, including cutting, machining, grinding, and polishing (metallic and composite materials) Perform mechanical and materials testing in line with established procedures and industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO) Operate laboratory equipment such as universal testing machines, hardness testers, and microscopes Accurately record and document test results and observations Support materials investigations and failure analysis activities Maintain, clean, and perform basic troubleshooting on lab equipment Follow all laboratory procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements Keep the lab environment organised, clean, and efficient Collaborate with engineers and lab leadership to support ongoing projects Required Qualifications Hands-on experience in specimen preparation for metallic and composite materials Experience performing mechanical testing (tensile, compression, hardness, fatigue, etc.) Familiarity with standard laboratory tools and equipment Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed procedures Good documentation and record-keeping skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree or technical diploma in Materials Science, Engineering Technology, or a related field Experience working in an aerospace, manufacturing, or R D lab environment Familiarity with ASTM, ISO, or similar testing standards Experience with metallography or microscopy
