ABOUT US
LeafWorks Inc. is a botanical genetics and analytical testing laboratory located in Sebastopol, California. We specialize in DNA-based testing solutions that support identity verification, species authentication, and quality assurance across the botanical supply chain. Our work helps researchers, manufacturers, cultivators, and brands ensure the integrity of plant-derived products. Using modern molecular biology tools such as qPCR and next-generation sequencing, LeafWorks develops and delivers testing services that bring greater transparency and scientific rigor to the botanical marketplace. Our work spans a wide range of plant and fungal products, including medicinal plants, functional mushrooms, agricultural crops, and other natural ingredients. At LeafWorks, we are passionate about plant and fungal science and the role genetics can play in improving product authenticity, research, and innovation. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Sample preparation Perform routine laboratory bench work including, but not limited to DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, genomic sample preparation, buffer/solvent creation, etc. Assists in the upkeep of cleanliness in the laboratory, including workspace organization, disposal of waste, and cleaning of lab glassware Assists in routine maintenance of laboratory equipment Data entry, interpretation, and report generation for genetic testing services LeafWorks provides Manage time efficiently as you work between order fulfillment and internal research and development Ask questions and take initiative to overcome obstacles and find solutions
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field, or currently pursuing a degree in one of these disciplines. Experience in any type of biological or chemistry lab setting Excellent organization and time management skills. Experience with database management such as Microsoft Excel. Must be able to stand/sit for extended periods of time
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
As a small company, all employees are expected to help in other departments as necessary. The position is part-time hourly with the potential for full-time, weekdays 9 AM - 5 PM on premises.
