We're searching for a Sample Preparation Technician to support sample preparation activities for organic analysis within our environmental laboratory team in Commerce City, CO . This position supports sample preparation activities for EPA 500-series analytical methods and plays an important role in delivering accurate, high-quality data for environmental testing programs. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and motivated to learn laboratory processes and analytical techniques within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. What You'll Do Perform sample preparation of environmental samples following established laboratory methods and procedures Accurately enter, review, and maintain sample preparation data within LIMS Perform routine quality control activities associated with sample preparation processes Follow SOPs, QA/QC standards, safety protocols, and chain-of-custody procedures Support laboratory workflow, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives Collaborate with laboratory team members to meet sample throughput and turnaround time objectives Assist with performing housekeeping, glassware cleaning, and inventory management activities Collaborate with laboratory team to meet sample throughput and turnaround time objectives Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
What We're Looking For High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline preferred; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree Hands-on laboratory experience gained through employment, internships, research projects, or academic coursework Previous professional experience working in fast-paced, high-throughput environments Familiarity with EPA 500-series methods and solid phase extraction (SPE) is a plus but not required Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) What You'll Need to Succeed Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy, quality, and productivity Strong attention to detail and ability to perform structured, process-driven work with consistency Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing demands, and meet established deadlines Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to maintain efficiency throughout the workday Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new systems, processes, and procedures Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and take appropriate corrective action Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment What We Offer Competitive compensation Medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) with company match Employer-paid life, AD&D, and disability insurance Paid time off, sick leave, and paid holidays Paid parental leave Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Tuition reimbursement and professional development support Work Schedule Full-time, onsite position following a Monday - Friday schedule from 8 AM - 4:30 PM Flexibility to work beyond regular business hours when necessary to meet operational needs Our Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion At SPL, we believe that a diverse team is a strong team.
