Position Summary Gates Corporationhas an opportunity for a Mechanical Test Lab Operator, or also known internally as aLaboratory Technician,who will provide mechanical testing support for material, product/system development, validation and quality activities. This individual will work closely with Engineering and other technicians to provide testing support in a timely manner to provide analysis and test results so that projects are completed as scheduled and objectives are achieved. This is a trained operator who handles monitoring type testing under limited supervision. You will not have any direct reports but may monitor progress of other technicians to ensure all testing on assigned test requests gets completed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Monitor testing in progress, collect data and report results using handheld instruments for precision measuring. Work with technicians and engineers in reviewing testing, procedures and requirements. Enter information into Laboratory Management System. Data entry/collection, analysis and reporting results. Identify non-conformances so corrective actions can be implemented. Sample change and setup verification. Set / adjust controls, operating and data acquisition systems. Light mechanical and light electrical Repair and Maintenance (R&M) of test equipment as appropriate. Support continuous improvement and quality activities such as procedure and process improvements, cleanliness and organization (5S). Create maintenance work orders for equipment repair and modification.
Requirements and Preferred Skills Required:
Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, etc.) Understanding ofmechanical laboratory test equipment Understanding of manufacturing, laboratory settings or quality assurance Good interpersonal, oral and written skills Good planning, time management and organizational skills Ability to perform basic arithmetic Problem solving skills Ability to work independently or in a team environment Basic understanding of electromechanical control systems Basic understanding of hydraulic or power transmission systems Ability to setup and utilize data acquisition systems Demonstrated ability to communicate test related information Demonstrated ability to analyze and trouble shoot test related equipment and/or procedural issues Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
Preferred:
High School diploma or GED 1 or more years' experience Intermediate knowledge of product lines (hoses, couplings, belts, tensioners, etc.)

Full-Time
Hourly:
$26.00-$30.00 Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and other voluntary benefit options: benefits beginonthe first day of the month immediately following your date of hire Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation + 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days. All vacation days are accrued 401(k): 3% company contribution and additional 3% company match Tuition Reimbursement
