These duties will include washing dishes, preparing tubes for sample collection, performing basic lab experiments like DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, and other sample prep. Student will accompany researchers to the animal vivarium to assist with research colony. Unit Description The Department of Clinical Sciences mission is to assure the health and productivity of animals to meet societal needs through high quality educational programs for professional veterinary medical students, graduate veterinarians, and the public through a faculty and veterinary medical center of excellence, and to advance and disseminate comparative biomedical knowledge in an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration. Essential Duties Lab cleanup and maintenance by putting away incoming supplies, washing dishes, prepping tubes for sample collection so that the lab is clean and functional. Performing basic lab procedures like pipetting solutions, setting up sample isolations of DNA/RNA and performing PCR analysis under the supervision of senior lab members in order to promote the research projects ongoing in the lab. Assisting with sample collection and animal handling. Provide assistance to senior lab members while performing animal experiments and sample collection in order to generate data for ongoing research projects in the lab Supervision N/A Conditions of Employment Student should be organized, able to follow basic instructions, have good communication skills and wiliness to work with research animals. Minimum Qualifications Current enrollment in a college program with a interest in biological sciences. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and work under supervision. Dependability, initiative, and a strong work ethic. Preferred Qualifications Research lab experience Demonstrated interest in pursuing research, graduate education, or a career in biological or biomedical sciences. Ability to manage time effectively and balance research responsibilities with academic commitments.
