Accessioner I#26-12889 $18.34-$19.52 per hour Shelton, CT All On-site Job Description
Summary:
The main function of an accessioner is responsible for processing laboratory samples. They work with other laboratory employees to catalog patient specimens, like blood, urine, or tissue, for analysis. Lab professionals carry out diagnosis and treatment based on the samples received.
Essential Duties:
Receives and triages all specimens for clinical testing. Manages clinical information within LIMS database. Collaborates with various departments to ensure testing accuracy.
Qualifications:
0-2 years of work experience. High school completion required. Proven attention to accuracy and deadlines. Proven ability to work well independently and within a team. Must have a vehicle
  • Accession incoming specimens and route specimens to the appropriate laboratory or send them out to the appropriate satellite facility.
  • Prepare specimens for the laboratory prior to laboratory processing/testing, including sorting and labeling specimens and accompanying paperwork.
  • Data enter specimen, patient, and client information from specimen requisitions into the laboratory database.
  • Identify, alert, and hold specimens with incomplete processing information until resolved.
  • Verify requisitions are entered correctly into the database.
  • Scan, copy, and file specimen paperwork.
  • Perform other duties such as preparing labels and forms for the accessioning process.
