Job Description

Spector Scientific Lab is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their Specimen Processing and Accessioning team. The Specimen Accessioner will be responsible for performing specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures.
Responsibilities:
  • Receive samples, open boxes, and organize the workspace
  • Enter all patient demographic and testing information into the LIS system, label all samples for testing
  • Check samples and requisition forms for adequacy and flag any discrepancies or issues
  • Do spinning/freezing/splitting and other special services as needed based on client
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
  • Additional duties include performing sample preparation for analysis and testing, accurately labeling patient samples, following daily protocols
  • Meet department activity and production goals

Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Ability to work full-time shift Tuesday to Saturday
  • Experience in processing department 1 year +
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Intermediate or higher: Computer literacy and competency
  • Proficient in Adobe, MS Office (write, edit, format documents
  • Above average typing speed
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
