HUMAN MILK LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
Mothers' Milk Bank of Florida is a 501c3 charitable institution located in a 2,700 square foot facility housed within the OneBlood building in Orlando, Florida. Human milk is sent to the milk bank from donor women from across the state of Florida. The donor milk is sorted, indexed, and then stored in negative 20-degree Celsius freezers. Daily, milk from several donors is pooled, bottled, pasteurized, tested, and stored in -20°C freezers. Milk is later released for distribution to Florida's neonatal intensive care units and medically fragile babies at home. Responsibilities and Specific Tasks Work toward achieving status of Milk Technician Level I, according to HMBANA Technical Skills Knowledge criteria. Complete HIPAA, Food Safety, cGMP, and Hazard training within in 90-days (on-site during working hours). Prepare and maintain labs for milk processing. Document accurately on electronic and paper medical records. Log and manage incoming milk. Process, bottle, and pasteurize milk. Prepare specimens for bacteriological testing. Perform nutrition analysis. Pack milk for shipment. Retrieve or deliver materials to or from onsite warehouse. Education and Skills GED, High school education or higher. Read and write English fluently (Spanish language skills are an asset). Ability to follow complex written and oral instructions. Detail oriented and accurate. Team player with a passion for maternal and child health. Basic computer skills. Comfortable working in a lab environment with gown, mask, and gloves. Able to routinely lift 25 pounds. Full time onsite Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm. Starting pay $16/hr Paid time off plus 10-paid holidays, 401k, and health reimbursement allowance for dental, medical, and vision. Lactation support, healthcare, pharmacy, or lab experience preferred
