Laboratory Technician - Entry Level

The employee will be trained in culturing sensitive aquatic vertebrates and invertebrates which are used in whole effluent toxicity tests. Training will also include running bioassays to determine toxicity in samples received from clients. This will include preparing samples for testing, loading organisms into test containers, monitoring tests during the exposure period, performing physical and chemical measurements, and weighing test organisms. The technicians are also required to do all necessary laboratory cleaning and prep work. We are looking for a reliable candidate who is on time, conscientious, and able to work well and take instruction from fellow employees. Smokers need not apply since we work with very sensitive organisms that cannot tolerate traces of nicotine. The full time position requires working five days a week with a minimum of one weekend day per week. Occasionally we ask employees to work on a scheduled day off and they are given another day off. The training rate is $17.5 per hour benefits will include: health insurance, retirement plan, and two weeks paid vacation per year after a probationary period.
