Job Description
Overview Performs testing which requires limited skill and responsibility and a minimal exercise of independent judgment for which the technician has demonstrated competency. Under supervision as defined by CMS, performs general tests on patients of all ages which regularly require a professional level of knowledge to execute, interpret, and/or analyze in an accurate and timely manner. Qualifications Education H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required Associate's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred Work Experience 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical laboratory technician in a clinical laboratory Required Licenses and Certifications Certification as one of the following according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. Medical Technician
Certified from ASCP or Licensed Clinical Lab Technologist Certification as an AMT (American Medical Technologists) or ASCP
American Society of Clinical Pathologist clinical laboratory technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) or A person who recently moved to the state of Georgia or who has recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as a technologist or technician for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to complete an approved qualifying examination successfully.
