  • 8:30 PM) Job Summary The Laboratory Assistant performs routine laboratory tasks with precision and accuracy to support laboratory professionals and ensure efficient workflow and production.
This role involves specimen handling, basic equipment maintenance, and general lab support duties. Key Responsibilities Receive, sort, and process incoming specimens. Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment. Centrifuge specimens and prepare them for testing. Print labels, record data (e.g., temperature logs), and manage specimen storage and retrieval. Prepare reagents and media as required. Set up specimens at workstations, including: Building worklists Aliquoting specimens into sample containers Checking for clots or fibrin Performing inoculation and slide preparation Carry out assigned Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) tasks. Resolve pending worklists and locate missing samples. Maintain cleanliness by decontaminating work areas. Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests. Maintain departmental records and files. Replace gas cylinders as needed. Follow all safety regulations and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. Operate laboratory computer systems and standard PCs. Properly dispose of biohazardous materials. Complete required training and competency assessments.
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required Medical assistant training is a plus Coursework in math and science preferred
Experience:
No prior experience required Skills & Requirements Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently Strong attention to detail and ability to retain learned procedures Professional communication and teamwork skills Commitment to safety and compliance standards
