Job Description

POSITION TITLE
Laboratory Aide (7on/7off) Available shifts: Full-time, 7on/7off, Monday-Sunday, 8:30pm-7:00am

Department Supervisor, Lab Manager
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Support Specimen Processing, Core Lab, and Microbiology by processing and setting up specimens for testing, performing maintenance, monitoring inventory, and performing other duties as assigned.
WORK PERFORMED
Follow and demonstrate PRL's core values, which includes mutual respect and teamwork, a collegial work environment, and commitment to staff and patient safety. Understand and adhere to all safety and HIPAA related standards to ensure high quality patient care. Ensure accurate data entry into the laboratory information system. Label and store specimens as required according to established procedures. Follow specific guidelines for specimen acceptance and set-up. Participate in continuing education, Quality of Service and Quality Control Indicators. Complies with established department policies, procedures, and standards of operation; enforces safety and infection control policies and established. Communicate in a professional manner, maintaining patient/client confidentiality. Cooperates with department and laboratory staff to maintain harmonious working relationships among employees. Works with Compliance Officer on issues pertaining to Medicare/Medicaid regulations to assure 100% compliance. Demonstrate accuracy and proficiency in registering and ordering laboratory tests through the laboratory information system. Handles requests for special services such as STAT specimens, prudently and efficiently. Ensure the requisition order contains the appropriate information for each patient. Maintain clean and stocked work areas. Help monitor and stock inventory. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Position Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
License/Certification:
Valid driver's license (required). Preferred Position Qualifications Accurate data entry skills and word processing Patient care focus.
