This entry-level position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and interested in learning laboratory testing and sample preparation in a manufacturing environment. The person in this role will assist with routine metallography tasks, basic testing, equipment upkeep, and general lab organization while working closely with experienced team members. What You'll Do Follow established safety protocols and laboratory procedures. Perform surface hardness testing. Section, mount, and polish heat-treat samples for analysis. Handle laboratory supplies and complete basic equipment checks. Assist with calibrating and maintaining metallography lab equipment. Support experienced laboratory staff as needed. May assist with tension and compression testing, cleanliness testing, and titration testing. Keep the work area clean, organized, and maintained in a 5S manner. May assist in training other employees as required. Assist other Quality team members when needed. Perform other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent required. No prior laboratory experience required; training will be provided. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn laboratory processes and equipment. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong attention to detail and ability to complete repetitive tasks accurately. Basic math, measurement, and recordkeeping skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Skills for Success Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Ability to use laboratory tools and equipment after training. Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude. Dependability and willingness to support departmental needs.
