Job Title:
Lab Technician Job Description In this role, you will assist lead scientists with testing, formulation development, data collection, and interpretation. This role involves planning and safely conducting experiments, reporting data, and documenting experiment activities and results. You will operate laboratory equipment and power tools to make, prepare, and test samples, order general lab materials, and perform routine maintenance on lab equipment. Responsibilities Operate basic lab instruments such as viscometers, pH meters, and scales. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and handle regulatory information for chemicals. Execute safe procedures for equipment and activities. Provide clear and accurate written documentation of experiment activities. Set up and conduct experiments under general instruction. Capture and collect experimental data, complete statistical analysis, draw conclusions, and report results. Build basic wall constructions related to drywall and flooring underlayment assemblies. Utilize experience, judgment, and technical knowledge to perform job functions. Maintain detailed knowledge of laboratory concepts, procedures, practices, and equipment. Accurately complete assignments in a timely manner. Familiarity with basic project management. Suggest improvements to lab processes and procedures. Participate in laboratory, plant, and field work. Operate and maintain instruments and equipment in specific work areas. Work at a lab bench for up to 8 hours. Essential Skills Degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or any science field (Bachelor's with no experience or Associate's with 1-2 years experience). Experience with power tools such as drills or saws. Passion for lab safety and the work performed. Strong math skills. Ability to run tests, tabulate data, analyze trends, and present findings. Technical aptitude and education in Chemistry, Laboratory, Titration, Chemical, or Materials Science. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to work independently with minimal direction. Familiarity with basic project management. Work Environmen The lab operates Monday through Friday with a start time between 7-8 AM. You will be part of a team in this lab. The research center is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Libertyville, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
