Job Title:
Lab Technician Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating test equipment, evaluating test performance, and ensuring accurate test results. This role requires hands-on experience in construction and a strong understanding of testing procedures and standards. Responsibilities Set up and perform equipment and test setups. Build and adapt setup and test equipment for tests. Follow defined test plans and datasheets. Evaluate test performance and sample operation. Record and explain test results, completing test reports. Direct staff in test setups as needed. Examine customer samples and operate appropriate tests with supervision. Communicate with customers to ensure proper evaluation. Operate designated machines and special laboratory equipment. Perform routine maintenance and basic calibration of test equipment. Understand specific test standards and technology with support. Initiate recommendations for new equipment designs. Report data to engineers and engineering management. Plan tests, evaluate results, and report opinions as directed. Integrate continuous improvement concepts into job aspects. Provide suggestions for new equipment, processes, and forms to improve accuracy and efficiency. Essential Skills Proven experience in construction with skills in carpentry, concrete work, and building techniques. Ability to frame steel stud walls, hang drywall, and use tools like impact and rotary drills. Comfortable working in a dynamic lab environment with varying daily tasks. Effective collaboration with long-tenured team members with humility and respect. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Familiarity with lab or testing environments is a plus. Work Environment This role is based in a cutting-edge lab environment, operating on a first shift from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The position is a 5-month contract covering for someone on leave. The lab partners with major companies for testing and certification, offering exposure to a wide variety of products and technologies. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Northbrook, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.50 - $27.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
