Job Description

Major Responsibilities:
Responsible for the day to day operations of the Sleep Disorders Centers, providing daily direction to clinical and support staff. Maintains all aspects of the Sleep Center which include but are not limited to: Productivity levels, policies and procedures, sleep center accreditation, JCAHO Accreditation procedures for all sites, design, structure, budgets, and staffing of sites. In conjunction with Business Development/Marketing, coordinates public relations and marketing functions to promote the Sleep Disorders Centers. Directly involved in growing the referral base of the Sleep Disorders Centers. Maintains working relationships and communication with other departments, physicians and outsider agencies such as HMOs and medical insurance agencies. Coordinates the ongoing education of medical staff, technical staff, and the general public. Oversees all facets of polysomnography and the scoring of physiologic parameters of polysomnographic recording. Oversees the screening of new patients and the patient assessment, testing, results reporting, treatment and follow-up. Travels as needed to other Aurora Sleep Center sites for testing, meetings, etc. Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale. Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations. Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards. Licensure, Registration, and/or
Certification Required:
Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) registration issued by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) needs to be obtained within 1 year, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, and A valid drivers license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.
Education Required:
Associate's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Electroneurodiagnostic Tech, or Associate's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Respiratory Therapy.
Experience Required:
Typically requires 3 years of experience in polysomnography and/or patient care testing in a hospital setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Excellent interpersonal, communication, decision-making and problem solving skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Operates all equipment necessary to perform job. Due to frequent travel the incumbent will be exposed to regular road and driving hazards. Required to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally and over 100 lbs. occasionally. Exposed to mechanical, electrical and chemical hazards and thus protective clothing must be worn as necessary.
