13 weeks with possible extensions
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sleep Technologist to join a specialized sleep laboratory team in Urbana, Illinois. This role is ideal for a skilled professional experienced in conducting overnight sleep studies and supporting the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. The ideal candidate will thrive in a patient-focused environment and possess strong technical and clinical skills in polysomnography.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct overnight polysomnographic studies and monitor patients throughout sleep testing procedures. Prepare patients for sleep studies by applying electrodes and monitoring equipment accurately. Observe, document, and respond to patient events and physiological changes during studies. Operate and troubleshoot sleep lab equipment to ensure accurate data collection. Score and document sleep study data according to established standards and protocols. Educate patients regarding sleep study procedures and answer questions professionally. Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines. Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to support patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
Requirements:
Minimum 1 year of Sleep Lab experience
  • Required . Associate's Degree in Polysomnographic Technology or completion of a Certificate Program in Polysomnographic Technology
  • Required. BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Required .
Must hold the following certifications/licensure:
Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
Preferred Skills:
Strong understanding of polysomnographic testing procedures and sleep disorder diagnostics. Excellent attention to detail and patient monitoring skills. Ability to work independently during overnight shifts in a fast-paced clinical environment.
