Overview Element has an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician I to join our growing team in Fort Wayne, IN. As a member of the Organics department at our Environmental Testing Laboratory in Fort Wayne, IN, the Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine assignments within the department to ensure timely and accurate testing is performed. The technician must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance with established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures. In addition to these requirements, the technician will: Responsibilities Preserve, prepare, extract, and concentrate samples to be analyzed by the organics department Routinely work with client samples, laboratory instruments, chemicals, and reagents Perform tests as directed by internal standard operating procedures, published methods, and laboratory accreditations Operate under the supervision of more senior test technicians, chemists, and/or department managers Complete logs and record test data Manage the functionality and calibration of laboratory equipment Clean glassware and dispose of samples Skills / Qualifications Working knowledge of laboratory safety HS diploma or GED certificate preferred. College or vocational school coursework welcomed 0-2 years' experience in a testing related field Basic understanding of testing concepts Possess computer skills. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus
Physical Demands:
Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate).
