CPD&D Laboratory Technician
Duration:

Weekly Schedule :
40 hours
Shift Times:
8:00am - 4:30pm
Mon-Fri Description:
Individual capable of working with insects, plant material, and nematodes while completing routine, highly detailed work. Previous laboratory experience preferred. Work environments vary throughout the day between laboratory, greenhouse, and insectary colonies. Strong culture of safety requires individuals to adhere to all safety and ergonomic standards. Extensive training in safety, ergonomics, and laboratory SOPs provided.
CPD&D Laboratory Technician Notes:
Looking a for a candidate with a degree in Biology with a focus on Entomology and/or Nematology. Candidate will be using chemical spray. Standing for long periods of time PPE for laboratory and spraying is provided by employer. Specific skills, requirements or experience Experience in Entomology & with nematodes and insects; BS Degree Preferred. Recent Grads Okay. Any additional Medical Surveillance testing required? Will wear a
PAPR:
Medical Clearance & Pulmonary Function testing required To be completed during onboarding but not necessarily required prior to Start. Eventually the Bee Survey will need to be completed also. Any exposure to common allergens? Insects, Latex Basic tasks may include: Clipping/thinning plants used in testing. Hands-on infesting of plant and artificial diet material with various (non-stinging, non-hazardous) insect species. Routine assay formulation using manual pipettes. Specialized assay application using hand sprayers and track sprayers. Laboratory maintenance (cleaning, restocking, etc.). Grading insect assays. Preparation of media used in entomology testing. Scribing for evaluators Requirements Self-driven individual that also works well in a diverse group setting. Flexibility to shift focus throughout the day as needed to meet customer demands. Willing to work independently and with a team as needed. Self-initiated and desire to learn. Strong communication and time management skills Ability to follow directions and protocols Must have work experience• Does not need to be related to lab work, but must have had any job previously. Educational Requirements BS in Biology/Entomology

Adherence to Client Safety Protocols Understands and follows EH&S standards. Use of safety procedures & appropriate PPE mandated. Compliance with laboratory safety procedures. Soft Skills Communication and Collaboration Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective documentation and communication of results, good organization skills, follow SOPs, and adhere to safety protocols, strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
