Job Description

Job Summary Are you a detail-oriented person? Do you consider yourself a good problem solver? AFR Laboratories operates an onsite environmental laboratory at an industrial manufacturer in Logansport, Indiana. The facility utilizes industrial by-products as an alternative fuel in their production process. The laboratory analyzes these alternative fuels for operational and environmental compliance. As a laboratory technician you will be using standard laboratory instruments and techniques to perform routine analysis of the alternative fuels utilized by the facility. Standard tests include moisture analysis, pH, chloride analysis, metals analysis and energy value analysis.
Skills/Requirements:
Accuracy, attention to detail and a keen sense of observation. A desire for excellence, able to multitask and can work in a fast past environment. Possesses a high degree of human relations skills and displays a friendly, pleasant and cooperative attitude. Education/Experience -While the position does not require a degree in the sciences it does require a certain mental prowess in math and science.
Duties include:
1) Performing quantitative analysis of fuel samples per Standard Laboratory Operating Procedures. 2) Compiling test results and submitting data to facility personnel for review. 3) Performing data entry of analytical results into the laboratory's computer database system. 4) Maintaining sample throughput to meet data deliverable schedules. 5) Maintaining and calibrating laboratory instruments. 6) Preparing reagent solutions 7) Performing data quality checks. 8) Maintaining analytical logbooks. 9) Organizing and maintaining the laboratory's chemical and supply inventory. 10) Developing a strong working relationship with co-workers and other company personnel.
Working Conditions:
The laboratory operates 24 hours per day, seven day a week operation and as such requires the staff to work nights and weekends depending on the shift. The incumbent will be working with potentially hazardous materials and must be cognizant of such and strictly adhere to the laboratory's safety policies. Full Time and Part Time work currently available.
