Job Description

Position overview : The Bio-Monitoring/Compliance Assistant will be responsible for the WET biomonitoring testing for effluent waters utilizing various fish species. As needed, this role will assist in safe drinking water regulations and compliance for our clients. All analysts are offered the opportunity to become a Kentucky certified microbiologist and assist in microbiology testing.
Job Responsibilities :
Reporting and Scheduling:
update clients with test results, prepare bio reports within a month of testing, schedule clients for testing according to their permit, client record keeping
Laboratory Maintenance:
calibrate pH, dissolved oxygen, and conductivity meters; maintain logbook and paperwork; order and stock supplies; wash/prep glassware according to standard operating procedures Assist in
Bio-Monitoring Analysis:
renew test solutions, perform daily chemistries, make dilutions, generate statistical analysis, pick up samples from clients if necessary
Fish Care:
rear Fat Head Minnows; maintain Ceriodaphnia dubia and Dubia pulex cultures used in analysis; clean fish tanks, filters, and breeding tanks
Other Job Duties:
assist in safe drinking water regulations/compliance and any other projects from the laboratory manager, microbiology analysis Qualifications Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental science, chemistry, or related field (required) Laboratory experience (preferred) College level microbiology lab credit (preferred) The education requirements may be substituted for equivalent experience on a case by case basis.

Schedule:
8-hour shift Monday - Friday. Some weekend and holiday work.
