Job Description

Delivering Accurate, Timely Laboratory Results That Support Exceptional Patient Care What We're Looking For:
  • Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Technician or Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Generalist license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (required).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory testing principles, instrumentation, and quality control standards.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in the application of laboratory practices and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to turnaround-time expectations.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, safety, and infection-control practices in a clinical laboratory setting.

What You Will Do:
You will perform routine and specialized clinical laboratory testing on patient specimens, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory and quality standards that support patient care and clinical decision-making.
  • Perform routine and specialized diagnostic laboratory tests on patient specimens.
  • Prepare and process specimens using appropriate reagents, stains, and solutions.
  • Conduct testing procedures according to standardized methodologies and departmental protocols.
  • Recognize abnormal or unexpected results and initiate appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Complete testing within required turnaround times, including STAT testing.
  • Accurately record, verify, and report laboratory results.
  • Assist with morgue duties once competency is established.
  • Perform quality control, calibration, and maintenance procedures on laboratory instrumentation.
  • Document quality control activities, corrective actions, and maintenance accurately.
  • Interpret results using delta checks and established verification processes.
  • Communicate critical values according to protocol and document required read-back confirmation.
  • Collaborate professionally with physicians, nursing staff, and laboratory colleagues.
  • Follow PPE requirements and laboratory safety protocols at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Attend departmental meetings, organizational training, and continuing education activities.
  • Maintain a minimum of 12 continuing education units annually.
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
