Job Description

Specimen Processor (Full-Time)
Position Summary:
Physicians Group Laboratories is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Specimen Processor to join our team at the All Kids Medical Clinic (Opelousas) . This full-time role is responsible for collecting, labeling, and processing biological specimens — including swabs and other sample types — to support accurate and timely diagnostic testing. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a commitment to patient care, and an active phlebotomy certification .
Key Responsibilities:
Collect biological specimens (e.g., nasal, oral, blood, urine) following proper protocols and safety standards Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection as needed Accurately label, document, and prepare specimens for transport to the laboratory Maintain proper specimen handling, storage, and chain-of-custody procedures Ensure patient identification and verification before specimen collection Communicate effectively with patients, clinic staff, and laboratory personnel Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to infection control procedures Follow HIPAA and OSHA guidelines to ensure patient privacy and workplace safety Assist with inventory, supply management, and basic administrative duties as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required Phlebotomy certification required (state or national certification accepted) Prior experience in specimen collection or processing preferred Ability to follow detailed protocols and maintain accurate records Strong interpersonal and communication skills Comfortable working in a fast-paced, clinical setting Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
