The Lab Manager oversees day-to-day laboratory operations, serving as the primary liaison between scientists, vendors, facility management, and client stakeholders — keeping laboratories safe, compliant, and fully functional. The ideal candidate is highly organized, service-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced life sciences environment. This is a contract position at 40 hours per week for 12 months. "Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Key Responsibilities Laboratory Operations Oversee daily laboratory operations to ensure a safe, organized, and productive research environment Maintain laboratory readiness including shared spaces, equipment areas, and storage rooms Develop and maintain laboratory SOPs and operational documentation Support laboratory onboarding, space planning, and operational processes for scientific teams Coordinate laboratory moves, expansions, renovations, and equipment installations Vendor & Contractor Management Serve as primary point of contact for vendors, service providers, equipment technicians, and contractors Coordinate preventive maintenance, calibration, certification, and repair services Manage vendor scheduling, site access, work permits, and service documentation Monitor vendor performance and ensure service quality meets client expectations Inventory & Procurement Manage laboratory inventory, consumables, gases, chemicals, and operational supplies Coordinate purchasing and monitor inventory levels to prevent operational disruptions Receive, document, and distribute laboratory deliveries and vendor packages Maintain accurate inventory records and support budget tracking activities Equipment & Asset Management Maintain laboratory equipment databases, service records, and maintenance schedules Coordinate equipment qualification, relocation, installation, and decommissioning Monitor equipment performance and identify operational risks Support laboratory users with equipment-related operational issues Facility Coordination Act as liaison between laboratory personnel and building management Coordinate facility maintenance activities impacting laboratory operations Monitor laboratory utilities, environmental conditions, and facility systems Support emergency preparedness and business continuity planning efforts Develop and manage operations workflow data via smartsheet and excel Client & Stakeholder Support Build strong relationships with scientists, research teams, client leadership, and partners Provide exceptional customer service and responsive operational support Prepare operational reports, metrics, and updates for management and clients On-Call & Emergency Support Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to laboratory emergencies and critical facility issues Coordinate emergency vendor support and facility response activities when necessary Provide occasional early morning, evening, or weekend support as needed Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Facilities Management, Operations, or related field 3-5 years of laboratory operations, laboratory management, or facilities management experience Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, academic research, or life science environments Strong organizational and project management skills Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and laboratory management systems Preferred Experience supporting multi-tenant laboratory facilities, incubators, or shared lab environments Familiarity with laboratory equipment management and vendor service coordination Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations, OSHA requirements, and EHS best practices Experience with laboratory startups, relocations, or facility buildouts PMP, RMM, CBSP, CHMM, or related certifications are a plus Core Competencies Laboratory Operations Management Vendor & Contractor Coordination Facility Management Equipment Lifecycle Management Inventory Control & Procurement EHS Compliance Support Project Management Customer Service Excellence Problem Solving & Decision Making Communication & Relationship Management DK Scientific is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
