T HIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented temporary technician to support a large-scale biobank inventory audit. The role involves systematic physical verification of frozen biological samples and real-time reconciliation against digital records in Benchling. This is a highly process-driven role requiring precision, consistency, and strict adherence to sample handling protocols to ensure data integrity and sample traceability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform physical inventory of biobank samples across freezers, shelves, racks, drawers, boxes, and vial positions Retrieve, handle, and return sample boxes under cold-chain conditions using dry ice Scan vial barcodes and verify sample identity against Benchling or LIMS records Accurately assign, verify, and update sample storage locations (freezer, shelf, rack, box, and position) within the system Log discrepancies, including missing, mislabeled, or mismatched samples, in an exception log Maintain strict chain-of-custody and sample integrity throughout handling Accession clinical, biofluid, and cell samples into LIMS databases as needed Complete daily inventory logs and end-of-day reporting (progress, exceptions, status) Adhere to SOPs for safe handling, PPE use, biosafety, and freezer access Other duties, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
1-3+ years of laboratory, biobank, sample management, or similar operational experience Familiarity with Benchling is a plus Experience handling biological samples under appropriate biosafety guidelines Familiarity with cold chain logistics and electronic sample databases (LIMS) Strong attention to detail with proven ability to maintain accurate records and identify discrepancies Excellent record-keeping skills with a strong commitment to data accuracy Comfortable following structured workflows with minimal deviation Ability to perform repetitive, high-accuracy tasks for extended periods Comfortable sitting and standing for extended periods during sample handling activities Ability to lift and move boxes and work in freezer environments
