Job Description
Job Summary The Laboratory Processor supports laboratory operations by receiving, verifying, preparing, and processing patient specimens. This role ensures accuracy in specimen handling, data entry, and communication while maintaining compliance with laboratory procedures and safety standards. The position plays a critical role in supporting timely and accurate diagnostic testing.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required Maryland resident Individuals eligible for the Maryland Service Year Program (generally ages 18-24)Experience:
Healthcare, laboratory, or clerical experience preferredLicensure/Certification:

Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to follow procedures and safety protocols Good communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently and use sound judgment Basic computer and data entry skills Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to follow procedures and safety protocols Good communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently and use sound judgment Basic computer and data entry skills Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment What You'll Do Receive, accession, and verify specimens and patient information for accuracy Enter data and maintain electronic and paper records Prepare specimens for testing, including centrifugation, labeling, and packaging Ensure proper storage and handling of specimens Communicate specimen-related information to internal and external stakeholders Notify appropriate staff of critical values and manage follow-up communication Package and prepare specimens for transport to internal or external laboratories Follow laboratory procedures and quality standards at all times What the Job is Really Like Work is highly detail-oriented , and errors can directly impact patient care You'll handle a steady flow of specimens, often with time-sensitive priorities The role involves both technical tasks and clerical responsibilities Some tasks are repetitive, but accuracy and consistency are critical You may need to communicate with multiple departments to resolve issues Working independently is common, but teamwork is still essential Work Environment & Demands Laboratory setting with exposure to biological specimens Requires adherence to strict safety and infection control protocols Frequent standing, walking, and handling of specimens (as shown in physical demands table on page 3) High level of concentration and attention to detail required Occasional exposure to laboratory hazards (e.g., blood, chemicals) under controlled conditions What Success Looks Like Specimens are processed accurately and efficiently with minimal errors Data entry and documentation are complete and correct Laboratory procedures and safety standards are consistently followed Communication with team members and departments is clear and timely You demonstrate reliability, precision, and accountability in daily tasks Caring for Our Team We offer a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees' well-being and professional growth.
