Clinical Molecular Technologist NxGen MDx - 2.3 Grand Rapids, MI Job Details Full-time From $20.50 an hour 10 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Qualifications Teamwork Databases Bachelor's degree Attention to detail Organizational skills Full Job Description Position Summary The Clinical Molecular Technician is an experienced laboratory professional within the NxGen MDx laboratory, responsible for specimen preparation, reagent handling, and execution of molecular diagnostic testing workflows. This role performs downstream testing, data analysis, and result interpretation while ensuring adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). The Clinical Molecular Technician works collaboratively with the laboratory team to generate accurate, reliable, and timely results, while supporting quality control processes and troubleshooting technical issues that arise during testing.

Schedule :
Tuesday - Saturday Medical Dental Vision Core Responsibilities 1. Specimen Processing & Test Execution Performs daily specimen preparation and reagent setup for molecular workflows Executes laboratory assays including: NIPT library preparation 21-CAH SNaPshot
HBA AS-PCR
Sanger confirmation Fluconazole testing Conducts dilution and normalization processes for DNA (e.g., "dilution sheets") Ensures proper sample handling, labeling, and tracking 2. Data Analysis & Result Interpretation Performs NGS data analysis and interpretation Reviews pathogen loading results and performs report quality control Applies carrier screening language and QC standards Ensures accuracy and completeness of test results prior to release 3. Quality Control & Compliance Adheres to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) in all procedures Performs and documents quality control checks for assays and workflows Identifies deviations, errors, or inconsistencies in test results Supports corrective actions and troubleshooting activities 4. Laboratory Operations Support Maintains laboratory equipment and ensures proper usage Assists in troubleshooting technical issues across workflows Supports workflow efficiency and turnaround time goals Follows laboratory safety protocols and compliance requirements 5. Team Collaboration Works collaboratively with laboratory staff and leadership Communicates technical findings clearly and effectively Supports training and knowledge sharing as needed 6. Non-Essential Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned Education & Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Molecular Diagnostics, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related field Minimum of six (6) months of paid laboratory experience with demonstrated positive performance (preferred) Experience with laboratory techniques and equipment, including pipetting and instrumentation Familiarity with: Genomic databases and variant interpretation tools Thermocyclers, qPCR instruments, and NGS platforms Spectrophotometry and fluorescence-based measurements Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to translate technical information for diverse audiences Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment Familiarity with HIPAA and PHI requirements Demonstrates Drive Ownership Accountability Professionalism Core Competencies Problem Solving Thoroughness Client Service Environmental Conditions Work is performed in a sanitized laboratory environment Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including masks, gloves, and eye protection Exposure to laboratory hazards including: Bodily fluids
