Laboratory Technician - Battery Cell Operations Job Description We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team in battery cell operations. The role involves working in a controlled, clean room environment, where you will be responsible for various tasks related to equipment setup, operation, and maintenance. This is a unique opportunity to be part of cutting-edge technology in a dynamic and collaborative setting. Responsibilities Perform all required tasks in relation to equipment setup, operation, cleaning, testing, and process checks to ensure reliable and consistent functionality. Work consistently in a controlled, clean room environment while wearing required protective equipment. Utilize the Job Instruction Training process to grow the combined skill set of the work group. Mix chemicals (liquids, powders, gases) to a specified recipe. Perform scheduled equipment maintenance and required cleaning. Observe equipment functionality and troubleshoot issues when needed. Maintain records on work performed, analyze data collected, and report results. Recommend revisions to lab processes. Document best practices in battery cell manufacturing processes through standardized work instructions. Use data collection to make well-informed process improvements through corrective action. Identify and eliminate operational waste using Lean manufacturing tools. Execute problem-solving techniques to improve efficiency, quality, and safety. Maintain good housekeeping, safety practices, and supplies. Coordinate and exchange findings with engineering personnel outside the work group. Properly dispose of material waste. Actively participate in team/group Business Plan Deployment meetings. Coordinate test, build, and preventive maintenance activities with stakeholders and support teams to ensure on-time completion. Vet incoming work requests to ensure equipment and hardware resources are in place to support. Essential Skills Associate degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering Technology, or related technical field OR equivalent hands-on experience. 2+ years of experience in a laboratory, testing, manufacturing, or cleanroom environment. May Consider Candidates with less than 2 years if Bachelors Degree Thorough knowledge of complex mechanical, chemical, and/or electrical concepts. Working knowledge of computer applications used in lab/manufacturing environments. Ability to accurately interpret engineering instructions. Analytical ability to solve moderately complex technical issues. Effective oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others in an inclusive team environment. Willingness and flexibility to work any shift as operational needs require. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with manufacturing or laboratory equipment operation and maintenance. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, process documentation, and technical work instructions. Proficiency with computer applications used in manufacturing and lab environments (data collection, documentation, reporting). Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills in a collaborative, inclusive environment. Work Environment The role is based in a lab environment where you will work alongside a team of technicians across multiple shifts. You will interact regularly with the engineering department and maintenance teams. The position requires working in a clean room setting, performing hands-on tasks involving chemicals and various equipment. The role offers a chance for flex hours or remote work, as well as the possibility for extension. The team operates in a supportive and collaborative atmosphere, focusing on cutting-edge technology and innovation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Warren, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
