Job Title:
Chemistry Lab TechnicianJob Description The Chemistry Lab Technician plays a key role in developing, evaluating, and validating innovative technologies that support the organization's position as a market leader in its target markets. This role focuses on conducting chemical experiments, tests, and analyses, supporting quality control programs, and ensuring laboratory safety and cleanliness while working on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities + Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests, and analyses, including design verification and method validation. + Conduct sampling and analysis programs to maintain quality standards of chemical intermediates. + Operate experimental laboratory test equipment and follow established laboratory procedures. + Understand and follow instructions and specifications from engineers and other technical staff. + Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities while adhering to standard test methods. + Assist in creating new test procedures as needed to support evolving project requirements. + Select and set up the required laboratory equipment for tests, experiments, and analyses. + Prepare chemical solutions and buffers according to specified formulations. + Document test results in accordance with laboratory standards and reporting requirements. + Maintain proper storage, labeling, and organization of laboratory supplies and materials. + Service and perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure proper operation. + Keep the laboratory neat and clean and sterilize work surfaces and equipment regularly. + Learn and understand the background and objectives of assigned projects and tasks. + Work with a broad range of laboratory equipment and processes across different labs as needed. + Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in support of various project teams. + Collaborate effectively in team environments and work independently when required. + Utilize the online request system to receive lab assignments and submit test reports. + Maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality. + Perform other duties as assigned to support laboratory operations and project goals. + Perform safety checks in the lab, including eye wash and safety shower inspections, hazardous waste monitoring and cleaning, and spill kit checks, typically requiring about one hour. + Conduct quarterly GCIL inspections and extension cord inspections, typically requiring about one hour. + Complete safety checks on equipment following a defined checklist, typically requiring about four hours per month. + Participate in first aid training and obtain first aid certification. Essential Skills + AAS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering, or a related field. + At least 2 years of prior experience working in a laboratory environment. + Experience with chemical testing, chemical analysis, and sample preparation. + Hands-on experience with method validation and design verification activities. + Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. + Knowledge of laboratory environments, safety practices, and cleanliness standards. + Ability to operate laboratory test equipment and follow standard test methods. + Strong analytical and observational skills for interpreting test results and identifying issues. + Effective time management skills to handle multiple projects and changing priorities. + Ability to commute to the office and work on-site daily. + Willingness to perform routine safety checks and inspections in the laboratory. + Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field. + 6-12 months of prior industry experience in a relevant laboratory or technical role. + Experience writing technical reports and documenting experimental results. + Good interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with engineers, project teams, and other stakeholders. + Familiarity with quality control processes and troubleshooting in a laboratory setting. + Interest in participating in first aid training and obtaining first aid certification. + Motivation to develop skills, contribute ideas, and grow within a large, global organization. Work Environment This is a first-shift, on-site position working Monday through Friday, with a typical start time of 7:00 or 8:00 a.m. and an end time of 3:30 or 4:30 p.m., and a firm stop at 5:00 p.m. for lab activities. The role is based in a laboratory environment and may require moving between a variety of labs depending on the task at hand. The technician will have an assigned desk and work within a renovated campus that offers modern amenities such as upgraded kitchen and lounge areas, a cafeteria, and outdoor spaces. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to standard operating procedures, while also providing opportunities to work with advanced technology and a broad range of equipment and processes in a collaborative, science- and engineering-focused setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Minneapolis, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
