Responsibilities:
Facilitate the collection, processing, and shipping of urine specimens for laboratory testing. Collect urine samples directly from patients, utilizing observed and supervised collection techniques as required. Verify patient identity in accordance with departmental policies before specimen collection. Properly label, document, and prepare specimens for shipment to the laboratory. Demonstrate respectful and compassionate interactions with patients, physicians, and clinic staff, ensuring a positive experience. Communicate effectively with a diverse patient population, adapting approach as needed. Follow all Universal Precautions and OSHA safety standards when handling specimens. Adhere strictly to HIPAA privacy guidelines to protect patient confidentiality. Notify supervisors of low-volume shifts, unusual issues, or procedural deviations. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment at all times. Assist with office tasks such as supplies ordering as necessary to support clinic operations.
Required Skills:
Proven track record of providing excellent customer service, especially in healthcare or customer-facing roles. Reliable, punctual, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with multiple software programs, email management, and reporting. Fast, accurate data entry abilities. Have Skills:
Experience in clinical specimen collection or medical assisting. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and laboratory safety procedures. Basic understanding of medical terminology and laboratory processes. Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience in specimen collection, healthcare, or customer service roles preferred. Previous exposure to clinical environments or laboratory settings is a plus.
Other Requirements:
Schedule:
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., totaling 12 hours per week. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Physically capable of frequent walking, sitting, bending, reaching, and other physical activities associated with specimen collection. Uniform requirements include solid color scrubs and closed-toe shoes. This is a temporary, ongoing assignment with an indefinite potential duration, offering a competitive pay rate of $18-19 per hour.
