• Responsibilities

• As a laboratory assistant you will be a member of a diverse, agile team responsible for biological specimen receipt, identification verification, processing and storage.

In addition, you will perform a variety of clerical, processing, and other laboratory duties that include maintaining supply inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning. This position is located at the Superior Drive Support Center where immediate parking is available.

• Qualifications
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required. +
• Must Obtain Department of Transportation (DOT) certification for the delivery of specimens to off-site locations after hire.
• Additional Qualifications

• + •Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology/Mayo Collaborative Services (DLMP/MCS) employees that have been in their current lab/position for less than 2 years must attach an early release approval from their supervisor.

• + Knowledge of laboratory functions and medical terminology preferred.

+ Science background preferred. + 1-2 years medical experience preferred. + Ability to stay organized, prioritize, and shift gears in a busy environment. + Conscientious of details and strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents, and infectious agents. + Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member. + Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. + Experienced with computers, keyboarding, and telephone operations. + Flexibility
