Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Technologist to join our Germ-Free Animal Facility team. This position supports the maintenance and operation of specialized animal colonies and contributes to research projects requiring germ-free and gnotobiotic animal models. Key Responsibilities Perform routine animal husbandry and colony management in a germ-free environment. Handle and monitor research animals in accordance with institutional and regulatory guidelines. Assist with breeding, weaning, health monitoring, and record keeping. Support facility operations, including sterilization procedures, equipment maintenance, and environmental monitoring. Collaborate with investigators and facility staff to support ongoing research projects. Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to established standard operating procedures. Requires bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, other relevant science, or an associates degree with 6 years of relevant laboratory experience. Must exhibit a solid understanding of lab techniques, equipment, and safety. Must have the ability to organize and carry out laboratory techniques independently and in a team setting. Experience with basic data analysis is required. This position requires demonstrated writing skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with animal handling and husbandry, particularly rodent models. Experience working in a Department of Comparative Medicine (DCM) or similar laboratory animal resources environment. Familiarity with aseptic techniques and/or germ-free, gnotobiotic, or barrier animal facilities is desirable. Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to following protocols precisely; attention to detail is critical for success in this role. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
