Perform routine and/or special assays on blood and body fluids and human brain tissue. There is an opportunity available for a Clinical Laboratory Technician in the laboratory of Dr. Randall Bateman, which investigates the causes, future diagnosis and treatments of Alzheimer's disease utilizing a wide variety of assays and techniques from basic applications, such as quantitative measurement of stable-isotope labeled peptides and clinical translational studies in diagnostic and therapeutic biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease. Duties in this role include sample preparation, sample running and Mass spec for any projects run by or in collaboration with the Bateman Lab/SILQ Center. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists with research studies, experiments, and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment. Performs routine assays according to laboratory standard operating procedures; may perform special assays with supervision by a senior scientist or a staff scientist. Recognizes problem situations and participates in problem solving; informs supervisor of unusual situations and requests technical assistance. May assist with validation of new assays; compiles data for supervisory review; utilizes database, spreadsheet and word processing programs. Comply with all regulatory and client requirements for testing and documentation. Demonstrates a general understanding of assay methods and clinical relevance; participates in relevant continuing education. Assists supervisor with other duties and special projects as needed. This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
